Activating Faith in everyday life
How do I know if something is God’s will or not?
Scriptures three things help me base my decisions and actions on that which I KNOW is God’s will.
Jeremiah 9:23-24 New International Version (NIV)
23 This is what the Lord says:
“Let not the wise boast of their wisdom
or the strong boast of their strength
or the rich boast of their riches,
24 but let the one who boasts boast about this:
that they have the understanding to know me,
that I am the Lord, who exercises kindness,
justice and righteousness on earth,
for in these I delight,”
declares the Lord.
2. It is God’s Will to tell others about Him
Matthew 28:19-20
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
3. It is God’s Will to choose life
Deuteronomy 30: 19-20
This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live 20 and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him.
There are, of course, many more scriptures, but I find these three faithful to answer any doubts or questions –
will this (decision/food/action/material I read, etc.) help me to Know God?
will this (decision/food/action/things I watch, etc.) help me to tell others about God?
will this (decision/food/action/things I bring into my body or do with my body) bring life to my body and soul or to others?
How about you? Are these three verses also your foundation or do you have others?
